POWERGRID, Toshiba unveil India’s first 220kV Mobile GIS system
Hyderabad: Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) and Toshiba have launched the country’s first indigenously manufactured 220kV Mobile GIS (m-GIS) system. Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI) has delivered the system to POWERGRID. The 220kV m-GIS System is designed and built fully in line with POWERGRID’s operational requirements, a statement said here on Thursday. Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) is a compact and highly reliable system used for safe and efficient high-voltage power distribution, especially in space-constrained environments. “Recognising the need for mobility and rapid response, POWERGRID played a key role in conceptualising the technical contours of an m-GIS solution. The system offers rapid deployment and enhances grid flexibility, resilience, and disaster-readiness,” it said.
